Live Transcribe is an accessibility application designed for the deaf and hard of hearing.
With Google’s state-of-the-art automatic speech recognition technology, live transcription of text and speech on your screen is transliterated so that you can more easily participate in conversations around the world. You can also continue the conversation by typing your response on the screen.
You can try using various free voice typing apps for live transcription or voice-to-text conversion on your mobile device or computer. Some popular options include:
- Google Docs (Web and Mobile): Google Docs offers a built-in voice typing feature that allows you to dictate and transcribe text in real-time.
- Gboard (Mobile): Gboard is Google’s keyboard app for mobile devices, and it includes a voice typing feature that works across various applications.
- Microsoft Dictate (Web): If you use Microsoft Office applications, you can use Microsoft Dictate in Word, Outlook, and other Office programs for voice typing.
- SpeechTexter (Web): SpeechTexter is a web-based voice typing tool that works in your browser. It’s free and supports multiple languages.
- Dictation.io (Web): Dictation.io is a simple online voice typing tool that works directly in your web browser.
- Speechnotes (Web and Mobile): Speechnotes is available as a web app and a mobile app, offering real-time voice-to-text conversion.

To use Live Transcribe on Pixel 3 and newer devices, follow these additional steps:
- Open the “Settings” app on your device.
- Tap on “Accessibility” and then select “Live Transcribe.”
- Tap on “Use service” and grant the necessary permissions for Live Transcribe to function.
- You’ll notice an accessibility button appearing in the lower-right corner of your screen, situated next to the Home button. You can either tap this Accessibility button or use the designated gesture to activate Live Transcribe.
